Recruitment Activities:

FCCLA Week:

WAO has made sure to decorate a hallway in the school for FCCLA Week since 2022. This directs attention onto FCCLA and allows students to see a side of what we do. By decorating our school, we are recognizing our chapters successes. Decorations for FCCLA Week are generally under $50 as we hand-make most of them.

Bulletin Board in FCS Classroom:

Members have made sure to decorate a bulletin board in the FCS room with details and information about FCCLA. It is used in FCS classes to study National Programs, the creed, etc. It is informative for members and do not cost anything.

Parade Float:

WAO FCCLA members have had a parade float in the Marshall County Parade since 2022! Just this past year, it has been used to promote the new state theme: Sail Away with FCCLA! This is a great way to gain visibility to the public and is community service as we hand out candy. Cost can range year-to-year depending on decorations, but is usually $400.

Bulletin Board in Hallway:

Our members keep the hallway looking amazing by decorating a bulletin board quarterly. We use bulletin boards to gain, retain them, and recognize members through their achievements in the spring. Throughout a year of bulletin boards, we spend about $20 on various decals. Most supplies are free or made from the Cricut.

Ice Cream Social:

At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, an ice cream social was held for anyone interested in FCCLA. This serves as a great kick-off to the year and grabs the interest of prospective members. We spent $45 on ice cream, toppings, and bowls/silverware.

Information at School Registration:

There was a tri-fold board and information packets at school registration before the 2024-2025 school year. This grabs the interest of the student body and helps direct them to start their FCCLA journey. This costs $10.

Retention Activities:

Birthday Candy Bouquet:

Every year, members birthdays are celebrated with candy bouquets. Everyone wants to feel special on their birthday and it allows us to recognize everyone. Each bouquet costs $20.

Chapter T-Shirts:

Members get chapter t-shirts at the beginning of each school year to have as a keep-sake and to promote the club. Many members look forward to getting them each year. A major benefit is chapter unity and visibility in the high school. Cost $15 each, included in member dues.

Friendsgiving:

WAO FCCLA members get together around Thanksgiving time to have good food and strengthen connections with each other. Benefits include bonding, making memories, and getting to know new people. Cost is $0 as we reuse old decorations from the Culinary lab and everyone brings food to share potluck style.

Fun Activities at Meetings:

At the end of each monthly meeting, members are in charge of planning a fun thing to do for the club. These cost nothing and is great for chapter bonding and includes everyone.

Recognition Activities:

WAO FCCLA Social Media:

By having an Instagram and Facebook page for the chapter, members get recognized after competitive events and for the amazing work they’ve done. Social media is huge for outreach, visibility, and allows us to highlight student successes throughout the year. Social media does not cost anything.

Chapter Banquet:

At the end of the school year, we held a banquet where we gave out awards, recognized STAR Event participants and NLC advancers, and more. This event recognized all members and highlighted everything we have done in the year. Officers were installed for the 2025-2026 school year. The banquet cost $550 to put on.

Articles in Warren Sheaf:

Whenever WAO FCCLA has an upcoming event or has accomplished something great, we submit an article and photos to the local newspaper. This allows us to recognize members throughout the whole community and not just the school. There is not cost to submit an article.

Lettering:

Every single WAO FCCLA member is able to letter. Members have to gain 15 points by helping with fundraisers, competing in competitive events, attending chapter meetings, etc. Members who lettered are recognized at the annual Fine Art Awards and Chapter Banquet. There is not cost to lettering.

Locker Decorations:

WAO FCCLA members have locker decorations each year. Members who qualify for the National Leadership Conference get additional decorations to recognize them for their hard work. These decorations allows members to take ownership in their role in FCCLA. They cost nothing as they are hand-made.
